The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

_{I am so sorry. You all have quite a lazy founder, you know. Anyways. The last prompt that we had was "Forgotten." The featured piece is Anticlockwise, by ~SaphirePZ. All the entries were equally great - I was impressed! Good job, all of you.

The prompt for the next week (and I PROMISE I'll be on time with the next one) shall be "Drown." Do with it what you will.

A definite yes to the contest proposal, as for ideas:

Choosing a quote and having entrants write a piece centered/using it.
Giving a specific song and have the entrants write a piece with it as a theme.
In spirit of the Holiday season: Create a story (poem or prose) about a sci-fi universe, center the events around a holiday (made-up or real).
Dragons have always played a large role in ancient tales, write a piece that centers around a dragon, its actions, or its meaning to various cultures.
Free for all, give everyone a word/line limit and a specific criteria (i.e. form poetry vs. genre-specific prose or fantasy genre prose vs. prosetry) and see what they come up with.
